What is Workday ATS?

Workday is the dominant enterprise ATS. When you click "Apply" on a Fortune 500 company's careers page, you are almost certainly entering a Workday portal. The system parses your uploaded resume, maps your experience into database fields, and runs keyword-match scoring against the job requisition before a human ever sees your application.

Workday portals are notoriously complex. They require candidates to re-enter their entire work history manually ("the Workday wall"), answer custom questionnaires, and often complete multi-step identity verification. They also have built-in bot-detection that flags and deprioritizes applications submitted via Chrome extensions or automated scripts.

To pass Workday's scoring, your resume must contain the exact keywords and phrases from the job description. Minor semantic differences (writing "managed" instead of "oversaw") can lower your match score enough to be filtered out automatically.
