Resume Bullet Point Examples by Role (With Weak Lines Rewritten)
Resume bullet examples for software engineering, data, product, and healthcare. Each pair shows a duty line and the same work written so a recruiter and an ATS can both read it.

A resume bullet has one job: say what you did, what it affected, and which tools or scope were involved. "Responsible for improving the platform" does none of those. The rewrites below keep the facts and add the missing piece. Use them as a pattern, then swap in your own numbers.
If you want a scored pass against a real job description, use the ATS resume checker. Keywords only help when they are the words that posting uses.
The pattern
Verb + what you built or ran + the scale or result.
Scale can be users, dollars, time, team size, or a before-and-after. If you do not have a metric, name the system and the outcome in words. Do not invent a percentage.
Software engineer
Weak
Stronger
Worked on the payments API.
Rebuilt the payments API retry path so failed charges were replayed within 15 minutes instead of the next batch.
Helped with cloud migration.
Moved 12 services from the on-prem cluster to AWS, and cut the monthly compute bill by writing down the idle instances.
Fixed bugs in production.
Owned the on-call rotation for checkout and closed the top three error types that were paging the team nightly.
Data
Weak
Stronger
Built dashboards for stakeholders.
Built the weekly revenue dashboard in the warehouse finance already used, so the Monday meeting stopped waiting on a spreadsheet.
Worked with ETL pipelines.
Rewrote the nightly orders pipeline from a 6-hour batch to a job that finished before the US morning standup.
Did analysis on customer data.
Measured which signup step lost the most users and shipped the copy change that the growth team asked for.
Product manager
Weak
Stronger
Managed the roadmap.
Ran the quarterly roadmap review with engineering and support, and cut two features that had no usage after launch.
Worked with engineers to deliver features.
Wrote the spec for saved searches, sat in the build, and launched it to the accounts that had asked for it in tickets.
Improved the user experience.
Watched five support calls, then removed the extra address step that those calls were all about.
Healthcare and operations
Weak
Stronger
Handled patient accounts.
Worked a queue of denied claims, corrected the coding errors, and resubmitted them inside the payer window.
Responsible for medical records.
Audited a sample of charts each week and sent the missing-document list back to the clinics the same day.
Helped the team with billing.
Tracked the accounts that aged past 60 days and called the ones where a missing authorization was the holdup.
What to cut
"Responsible for," "helped with," and "worked on" as the whole bullet.
A skills line dumped into a sentence: "Used Java, Python, AWS, React, and SQL to do various tasks."
The same verb on every line. Led, built, cut, shipped, and audited can rotate.
Metrics you cannot explain in an interview.
One tailored resume per job means these lines change with the posting. A Java role should see the Java work first. A claims role should see the claims work first. That rewrite is included on every application if you use the job application service.
